The most powerful subclass of Rogue, Assassin has the best endgame build that you can use in Baldur's Gate 3!

Baldur's Gate 3 Best Assassin Build
Baldur's Gate 3 Best Assassin Build

The Assassin is the rogue subclass in Baldur’s Gate 3. This was also one of my primary party members during the gameplay. Dexterity is the primary Ability that the player can get as the Assassin. The Assassin class of Baldur’s Gate 3 will help the player deal with the more considerable damage from the opponent on the battlefield efficiently.

I do believe that if you are playing Rogue, then the Assassin subclass is an excellent option to pick. The player can unlock the Assassin class by reaching level 3.  Our build for the Assassin class will involve using armor such as Light armor.

Key Highlights

  • The Assassin is considered the best and strongest subclass of Rogue if players want a robust build.
  • The best weapons players will get with the Assassin are Simple Weapons: Hand Crossbows, Longswords, Shortswords, and Rapiers.
  • The best skills players can use for the Assassin are Acrobatics, Sleight of Hands, and Stealth.
  • The best race for the Assassin is Wood Elves in Baldur’s Gate 3, but you can also use the Drow as a second option.
  • In Baldur’s Gate 3, assassins can help the player deal much damage in a single attack when you battle your opponent.
  • The best backgrounds players can use for Assassin are Acolyte, Criminal, and Charlatan

During my playthrough, one of the first characters I created for myself was a half-elf Rogue. Therefore, from my experience, I have given a breakdown of the Best Assassin build for Rogue in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Armor & Weapon

Our Assassin will use Longswords, Shortswords, Rapiers, Hand Crossbows, and Simple weapons. Plus, she is the famous master of deadly strikes. This does mean that this sub-class gets weapon proficiency in special weapons.

This helped me get the use out of some Legendary weapons that no one in my party could wield. It also aids the player in proving the skills and knowledge they gain from the Assassin in both melee weapons and combats in different ranges.

Acrobatics

Acrobatics is the Skill with the main attribute known as “Dexterity.” It helps your character to stay focused and stick straight on the ground when the player has a tricky situation in the battle with the opponent.

This does mean that my Rogue was a little less resistant to falls and light on its feet. It includes abilities such as:

  • Standing directly on the Rocking Ships Deck.
  • Stability on Tightrope.
  • Running on the Sheet of Ice.

Below are the recommended races that you can use in the Acrobatics skill.

Class Recommended Races
Rogue Wood Elf
Fighter Half-Orc
Bard Human or Half-Elf
Monk Wood half-Elf

Sleight Of Hands

The Sleight of hands is the same as the Acrobatics skill, with the main attribute known as “Dexterity.” It aids by using the skillfulness of one’s hand while performing conjuring tricks.

This Skill comes in clutch if you are trying to steal or pickpocket. That includes actions such as;

  • Dexterity Check
  • Planting something
Class Recommended Races
Rogue Wood Elf
Bard Human or Half-Elf

Stealth

Stealth is the most potent Skill a player can use in an Assassin build. It also has the main attribute known as “Dexterity.” This skill helps the player to hide from the enemies in battle, slink past guards, and move towards someone without making any sound.

In my opinion, no Assassin is a true Assassin without their Ability to hide in the shadows.

Class Recommended Races
Rogue Wood Elf
Ranger Elf
Bard Human or Half-Elf
Monk Wood half-Elf

The Wood Elves avoid the company of other people and live in the Faerun’s forest. It also has Fey Ancestry, which is a unique ability. You will get the following perks with this race:

  • 10.5 meters movement of speed

The second option for the player is to get the Drow, which also has Fey Ancestry. The Drow is also a good race, with a mysterious and dark origin. If the player wants Stealthy and powerful characters, use the Drow race one.

Below, we will tell you the difference between the Wood Elf and the Drows that the player should know in Baldur’s Gate 3 so they can choose the race for Assassin to build accordingly.

Ability Points

Stats and ability points (Image Capture Credits To Gamesual)

We will be focusing on Dexterity as the primary stat for this build. With the help of Dexterity, the player will be able to get a high knowledge of his skills. It will also help the players by giving them knowledge about small weapons, like Light Armor, Shortswords, Rapiers, and Hand Crossbow.

Ability Name Points
Charisma 14
Wisdom 14
Intelligence 8
Constitution 14
Dexterity 16
Strength 9

The highest point for the Ability is 16, which the player should use for Dexterity. The lowest points that the player will invest in are for intelligence.

I mean, you are no Wizard and probably do without a few Intelligence points. The player should invest the same points in stats like Charisma, Wisdom, and Dexterity.

Bonus Points

If the player can successfully get the Skill, they will also receive bonus points in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Best Skills Name Attributes Bonus Points
Acrobatics Dexterity 5
Insight Wisdom 4
Stealth Dexterity 7
Sleight of Hand Dexterity 7
Persuasion Charisma 4

These skills are the best and well-suited for our Assassin Build. You should choose the Skill according to your knowledge.

Assassin Background

The background gives the player different interactions with NPCs. You can use any of the following backgrounds for the best Assassin build.

Backgrounds  Proficiency
Acolyte Insight, Religion
Charlatan Deception, Sleight of Hand
Criminal Deception, Stealth

Acolyte

The Acolyte background is where the player must spend his life serving the temple. You must also learn the sacred rites and worship the gods, providing them with sacrifices.

The player can earn +1 Inspiration points with Acolyte and hold 4 points simultaneously. Acolyte also helps the player to achieve +25 Exp in Baldur’s Gate 3. The proficiencies of this background are Insight and Religion.

Charlatan

Another background: Charlatan is a robust addition that can help curate your build. It enables the player to become an expert in manipulation. It also helps you by giving you more profit.

Same as Acolyte, the player can earn +1 Inspiration points as well. The player can achieve +25 Exp. The proficiencies of this background are Deception and Sleight of Hand

Criminal

Criminal helps the player to have a history in which he was breaking the laws and, with the help of legal connections, will be able to survive. Like Acolyte and Charlatan, the player can hold 4 points at once and earn +1 Inspiration points.

The proficiencies of this background are Deception and Stealth.

My Experience With The Assassin Build

I would consider this the Best Rogue Build for Combat in Baldur's Gate 3.

One of the first characters I picked for myself was the Rogue. Most of my 20-plus hours were spent in the shoes of the Rogue. As a result, I consider Rogues to be one of the best classes in the game. This is one of the few classes in the game to talk their way out of tricky situations.

Moreover, Rogues helped me deactivate many traps and pick many different locks. However, Rogues are masters of fighting from the Shadows and sneaking up on their enemies. This class is designed to be Assassins, and if you are looking for a build that best suits that playstyle, follow this guide.
