Undoubtedly, this element of unpredictability adds an exciting twist, making the rewards even more appealing and enjoyable.
The ‘Closing the Book’ quest starts in a region known as the Dismal Foothills in Hawezar. To reach the Dismal Foothills, I came through the Wejinhani Waypoint, which made the journey faster and easier.
Here, Elder Akos, an older man living in the Dismal Foothills, gives the quest. When you reach the location, look for him and interact to start the search. Elder Akos tells tales of the troubled past and asks you to help close an old chapter by collecting lost ledger pages.
However, there is a prerequisite, and I was required first to conquer Eriman’s Pyre Stronghold. Eriman’s Pyre is a demonic-infested location nearby. Here are the steps to destroy it:
- Return to Elder Akos in the Dismal Foothills. He will share the story behind the ledger pages and instruct you to retrieve them from Eriman’s Pyre.
- Next, head back to Eriman’s Pyre.
Now comes the core part of the quest—finding the lost ledger pages. This part of the questline is not easy and took me a while to get through. They are located within Smoldering Tomes scattered around Eriman’s Pyre.
There are four ledger pages in total. Here are their respective locations:
- Ledger Page 1: Found in the northern part of Eriman’s Pyre.
- Ledger Page 2: Located east of where Ledger Page 1 is found.
- Ledger Page 3: Found in the southern part of Eriman’s Pyre.
- Ledger Page 4: Located in the western part of Eriman’s Pyre.
Now, we arrive at the heart of the quest: the search for the four Smoldering Tomes. Let’s uncover these hidden treasures individually, guiding you through the journey.
- The first Tome is like the opening chapter of a thrilling book, hidden away in the southwestern corner of the search zone. This secluded part of the map holds the first treasure. But remember, treasures are rarely unguarded – you might encounter a few monsters here.
- Your adventure continues eastward to the following Smoldering Tome. Unlike the first, this one doesn’t offer the landmark of a chest. Instead, you will need to rely on your keen observation and instincts. Watch out for the roaming creatures in the vicinity. With swift maneuvers and calculated strikes, you can avoid or defeat these threats and secure them the second time.
- Onward to the north lies the third Smoldering Tome. A unique formation on your map should catch your attention – a path that forms a ring in the northeastern part of the search zone. Again, be prepared to face some enemy encounters. Use your arsenal of abilities to overcome them, and you’re one step closer to your quest’s completion.
- The final chapter of this treasure hunt leads you further north, just south of a dungeon entrance. Here, within the eerie shadows of the dungeon, lies the last Smoldering Tome. You have come a long way and may face one previous round of enemy encounters. But with bravery and tactics, you can navigate this final hurdle. Claim the last time and complete the collection.
Once you have all four ledger pages, return to Elder Akos in the Dismal Foothills. Then, hand over the pages to him, and in return, he will unveil further details about the captivating story behind them.
My Opinion
The Closing the Book Sidequest was an inspiring quest to get through just because of its complex and intriguing plot line.
However, that does not mean the rewards are not plenty. This mission allowed me to earn plenty of Gold and Experience without working as hard. Therefore, if you are looking for a more straightforward quest in Hawezar to help you make quick Gold and XP, I recommend taking on this mission.
Nevertheless, be prepared to get trampled by foes far more potent than you.
