There are several reasons why farming is essential in Diablo 4. For starters, it can be said that it is the best way to obtain first-class gear. I mean, let’s be honest: farming is one of the best ways to grind for many rare items in the game.
Farming is also a great way to level up quickly. It also helped me gain experience and grow as a player by defeating enemies time after time.
Key Takeaways
The following three classes are considered some of the best for farming in Diablo 4. Therefore, we have also given builds that work best with these classes:
- Rogue:
- Excellent Mobility for quick character upgrades.
- High Damage Output with powerful attacks.
- Twisting Blades: Deals damage to groups.
- Bursting Venom: Inflicts Damage over Time (DoT).
- Shadow Strike: Swiftly moves and damages.
- Necromancer:
- High Damage skills like Blood Surge.
- AOE Damage abilities demolish groups quickly.
- Skeleton Army: Summons an army for massive damage.
- Bone Sphere: Inflicts massive damage with bone sphere skills.
- Blood Golem: Uses blood golem for attention and damage.
- Sorcerer:
- Excellent Mobility with swift movement skills.
- AOE Damage with skills for area-of-effect damage.
- Chain Lightning: Powerful for farming with lightning attacks.
- Blizzard: Uses cold spells for feared damage.
- Fireball: Destructive fire skills for farming.
Diablo 4’s campaign becomes significantly difficult as you progress further. Therefore, it is important to farm for resources so your character is not left behind. This is why I have given some of my top picks for classes that are great at farming for resources.

During my playthrough, these three main classes are what I consider to be the best farmers in Diablo 4:
- The Rogue
- The Necromancer
- The Sorcerer
Rogue
The Rogue is considered one of the best farming classes to start with. Rogues are among my favorite classes because of their long-range, high-damage-inflicting attacks. Because of their speed and mobility, they can move quickly and clear out enemies at a high pace.
Pros Of The Rogue
- Excellent Mobility: High Mobility can give you a real advantage in the game, especially when you want to upgrade your character quickly.
- Excellent Damage Output: Rogue are famous because of their high damage-inflicting attacks. I recommend considering our Twisting Blade build in Diablo 4 to pursue a high-damage play-through.
- Versatile Moves: Thanks to the variety of the moves and skills of rogues, they can withstand different upper-level farming areas. They can fight in not only close but also long-distance matches.
- Special Craft: The rogues have unique crafts like duel wielding; they can use ranged and a couple of single-handed weapons.
Cons Of The Rogue
- Weak defense: The Rogue is well known because of the high damage attacks. However, they did not have a robust defense system and got me killed many times if I was a little slow to dodge.
- Build difficulty: Some of the builds of Rogues can be difficult to use, especially if you are unfamiliar with the class.
Farming Builds
- Twisting Blades build: This build focuses on dealing much damage to groups of enemies by using the Twisting Blades skill.
- Bursting Venom build: This build focuses on dealing much DoT damage to enemies using the Bursting Venom skill.
- Shadow Strike build focuses on quickly moving around the battlefield and damaging enemies using the Shadow Strike skill.
Ultimately, the best farming build for Rogues depends on your play style. If you want a build that inflicts much damage to the enemy, then Twisting Blade Build will be the best for you, and if you want to attack while maintaining distance, Penetrating Shot Build is your choice.
We also advise you to pursue a ranged archer build in Diablo 4 if your playstyle focuses on keeping a distance to attack the enemies. This way, you can deal maximum DPS while ensuring top defenses for your character.
Necromancer
The Necromancer is also considered a top-tier farming class. Necromancers can summon golems and skeletons. This was an enjoyable class to play and came with some very extraordinary abilities.
I found Necromancers to be quite tricky to counter, as they can not only cast spells but can also use their summoned minions to deal significant damage.
Pros Of The Necromancer
- Versatility: With their variety of move sets, they can significantly damage the enemy, making them a good choice for farming in other areas.
- High Damage: Their skills, such as Blood Surge or Bone Prison Necromancers, can significantly damage the enemies. I would often use these abilities to wipe out many enemies at once.
- AOE Damage: The Necromancer has various skills that deal with AoE damage and help demolish a group of enemies quickly.
- Bones: Necromancers can use Bones to create powerful weapons for destroying their enemies. These are used for inflicting a large amount of damage on your enemies.
You can consider some of our best build choices for Necromancer in Diablo 4 to pursue the gameplay of your choice.
Cons Of The Necromancer
- Complicated To Play: Because of the variety of abilities of Necromancers and their unique play style, they can be a little tricky to play with.
- Vulnerable To Distance Attacks: Necromancers’ attacks are primarily hand-to-hand combat-based, making them vulnerable to long-distance attacks.
- Weak Defense: Necromancers are not very gifted in health and armor, so they can be easily killed if they let their guard down.
Farming Builds
- Skeleton Army Build: The Skeleton Army Build is a muscular build for necromancers. It uses summoning skills to summon an army of skeletons to deal massive damage to the enemy.
- Bone Sphere Build: This helps deal massive damage to the enemy using its bone sphere skills.
- Blood Golem Build: This build is an excellent option for those players who want to defeat their enemy with attention. It uses its blood golem ability to summon a blood golem that attacks your enemy and deals significant damage.
My only problem with the Necromancer is that it can be tricky to understand, especially when you have countless other tiny enemies on the screen.
Sorcerer
The Sorcerer is a powerful and versatile class that can deal much damage to the enemy group. I usually recommend Sorcerer to people who would rather fight an enemy from a safe distance. This class is formidable at farming within the region with substantial enemy forces.
Pros Of The Sorcerer
- Excellent Mobility: Sorcerers like Teleport or Frost Nova can quickly move around the battleground because of their skills.
- High Damage: Sorcerers can use elemental attacks, such as Enhanced Blizzard or Deep Freeze, to quickly damage and clear enemy forces.
- AOE Damage: Sorcerers have skills dealing with AoE damage, which can be essential for defeating enemies.
- Strong Crowd Control Abilities: The sorcerers have strong crowd control abilities, which can be very helpful in controlling the battleground.
For those looking to gain an advantage from these, you can consider the top three best Sorcerer builds in Diablo 4 to farm your favorite gear item easily.
Cons Of The Sorcerer
- Weak Defense: Sorcerers are weak in solid armor and health, so they can be trounced if they let their guard down.
- Dependency On Mana: As the elemental moves of Sorcerers are mana-dependent, they have to use it wisely so they do not run out of it in the middle of a fight.
- Aiming problem: Sorcerers use long-range attacks to damage the enemy; they first have to aim at the target, which can be difficult and time-consuming for some skills.
Farming Builds
- Chain Lightning Build: This is one of the Sorcerer’s powerful builds for farming. This build focuses on dealing large amounts of damage to enemy forces using chain lightning attacks.
- Blizzard Build: This build uses cold spells to attack the enemies and inflict damage. This is the most feared build for sorcerers.
- Fireball Build: This build is the most destructive of all the Sorcerer builds and is best for farming. It uses fire skills to attack a group of enemies and defeat them.
Sorcecer may not have been my favorite class due to its weaker defense. However, I can not deny the many farming possibilities this class brings.
Here are some of the tips you should consider for farming.
- Fight High-Level Enemies: You gain more experience and acquire rare items by fighting high-level enemies.
- Modify Your Gear: By modifying your gear, you can quickly increase the damage you inflict and defeat your enemy.
- Efficient Farming: You can get high rewards and level up quickly by choosing an efficient region to farm in.
- Use High Damage Skills: By choosing High Damage inflicting skills, you can defeat your enemies quickly and get better at farming.
Which Class Is Best At Farming?
Farming is an integral part of any player’s routine in Diablo 4. I am guilty of finding hordes of weaker enemies to wipe out so I can level up my character quickly. During my playthrough, it was as if the game was encouraging me to farm and level up before I progressed deeper into the campaign.
Because most players can relate that in Diablo 4 if you are not leveled up correctly, the enemy will blast you right back to the quit game option. However, if we are talking about my favorite, I would consider Rogues the best at farming. Not only are they quick and mobile, they are masters at taking control of the battlefield.
