Side-quests in Final Fantasy 16 are one of a kind. At the same time, hunt locations add an extra layer of experience for combat, but there is something even better in store; the Chronolith trials.
Seven Chronolith locations are present throughout the map in Final Fantasy 16, which you can find and access by interacting with special stones called the Chronolith. Read our guide for locations and the respective Eikon abilities used.
Key Takeaways
- Seven Chornolith Locations in Final Fantasy 16 are located across the map in various empires.
- Each location is accessed by interacting with stones called the Chronolith.
- The Chronolith Trial consists of four stages, each containing three waves of enemies.
- Every stage is timed and carries on the timer from the previous stage.
- You are allowed to use only two specific Eikon Abilities in each stage.
- In each trial, try to gain bonuses from attacks that increase your time limit; only use an Eikon attack when the gauge is fully charged.
- In some trials, if you can’t defeat the enemy, evade.
- Each Chronolith Trial rewards you with an accessory that increases the respective Eikon’s ability.
The Chronolith Trails
Chronolith trials are another outlet to show your combat skills, consisting of four stages, with three waves of enemy each. Each stage is more advanced than the previous one and contains a time limit from the first stage. However, the time limit can be increased during combat by performing various actions like punishes or executions or utilizing certain Eikon abilities.
The specialty of Chornolith trials is that they require you to defeat the enemy by using only one Eikon and accessing only their abilities throughout the four stages. The final stage, however, only allows you to use two specific Eikon abilities. So you need to be well-practiced with Eikon’s abilities and match them in combination to win the trials.
Note: You can only access the Chronolith Trials after completing the main story mission, ‘Fire in the Sky.’ Ensure you have completed it, or you cannot play the trials despite arriving at the locations.

Rewards
Each trial rewards players with an accessory that enhances the respective Eikon ability used during the tests. Each addition boosts the skill and can be used as an advantage for further fights in the New Game+. You can further upgrade in the New Game+ to reach the maximum potential of a specific Eikon ability.
Moreover, you can gain a trophy for completing one specific Chronolith trial. In addition to that, you can also earn a collectible after completing all 7 Chronolith trials, called ‘The Circle of Malius.’ As obtaining all of the Wall of Memories unlocks a trophy, conducting the trials is necessary to achieve all Final Fantasy 16 awards.
Although the original trials are pretty simple, once you’ve used Eikon’s abilities, you can access the trails at the Arete Stone in the Hideaway if you are further interested in a challenge. The trials will be called the Final Chronolith Trials, with increased difficulty. They also have a score attached to them. Thus, you can track your score and time your attacks to get the maximum out of the trials.
The Chronolith Trials are not that difficult once you get used to the timing, and they are very good for practicing for future, more enhanced boss fights. We hope this guide was helpful to you. Read further on Final Fantasy 16:
