Curiosities Overview Table
How To Unlock Curiosities
Each curiosity has a specific condition to unlock it. During my playthrough, I unlocked these through main quests, side quests, or by killing a mark. Some curiosities of lesser importance or rarity can also be purchased.
Unlocking some curiosities can be quite rewarding, allowing the players to craft exquisite gear. In contrast, some are collectibles used to display in Clive’s room.
Drakeslayer’s Belt Design
It is the most astounding armor craft for the mid-game and is relatively easy to unlock. Once the players start Blacksmith’s Blues side quest, they can proceed to obtain this belt’s design. Following this questline, players must slay Dozamare and complete the quest by talking to the Blackthrone. The quest will end and will reward you with Drakeslayer’s Belt Design.
Excalibur Design Draft
In addition to the Drakeslayer’s Belt Design, another side quest, Blacksmith’s Blues II, will put you on the track to unlock the Excalibur Design. To start the quest, complete the Letting off Steam III and go to Clive’s room. Reach the Missives and start reading about Blackthorne so you can initiate the quest.
From there on, use Fast Travel and go to The Dalimil Inn. There will be an Inn nearby where you must enter and go through the stairs to the top floor. Afterward, interact with the doors, and eventually, the quest will be triggered.
Next up, head to The Velkroy Desert and slay the enemies. This will take you back to the Lord Ignac, and you will receive a Whetstone. Now, go to Blackthorne, and the quest will be completed, rewarding you with an Excalibur Design Draft.
Ouroboros Design Draft
Following the main quest line order, players can unlock the Blacksmith’s Blues III side quest after reaching the main quest 59. Once the side quest is initiated, players must travel to Dravozd and talk to Zoltan. Later, Blackthorne will ask you to bring him Salamander skin, which will not be any hassle.
Since the creature will be in The Fields of Corava, slaying the Desert Salamander and returning to Blackthorne will not take much longer. He will get the Forge of Dravozd working again.
Later on, interact with the Blackthorne in The Hideaway, and the quest will be completed, rewarding you with an Ouroborus Design Draft.
Gotterdammerung Design Draft
Subsequently, following the side quests mentioned above, Blacksmith’s Blues IV is the key to getting this curiosity. Once players have come across the main quest 62, “Across the Narrow,” they can access the side quest.
The Blacksmith’s Blues IV will require you to kill the waves of enemies while defending a village. Players will fight a fiery beast, Chimera, which is quite challenging.
The quest will be marked as completed upon defeating the foes, and players will obtain the Gotterdammerung Design Draft.
Treated Potion Satchel
One of the most decisive curiosities to obtain in Final Fantasy 16. It is because this curiosity will expand the inventory size of your consumables. To trigger the quest, “Wierd Science,” talk to Owain in The Hideaway and begin the hunt for the Bomb King. Following this, you can check out our comprehensive guide on “How to Defeat Bomb King.”
After defeating the Bomb King, return to the Hideaway and talk to Owain. The quest will be completed, and you will receive a Treated Potion Satchel.
Expanded Potion Satchel
Players can upgrade the Treated Potion satchel, further increasing the inventory size. To do so, initiate the “Even Weirder Science” quest by talking to Owain in the Hideaway. He will ask you to collect the Spherical Echoes from three locations and bring them to him.
- One will be in Hawk’s Cry Cliff, on the left side of Shallpo Rock.
- Another one will be in the Soth West of Northreach.
- Lastly, the Krozjit Echoes will be hosting another piece of Spherical Echoes.
After gathering all the Spherical Echoes, return to Owain and talk to him. The quest will end, and you will receive an Expanded Potion Satchel.
Morganbeard Extract
Another of the most essential curiosities is the Morganbeard Extract. This curiosity will boost the effect that your consumables carry. Explicitly, the Potions will increase health restoration from 20% to 24%.
Talk to Nigel in Hideaway and start the quest “The Root of all Problems.” Once the investigation is active, head to Martha’s Rest and access the elevator to the Sorrows. Head further and defeat the Goblins in the area.
After that, collect all the Morganbeards from the area and return them to Nigel in Hideaway. The quest will end along with rewarding you with the Morganbeard Extract curiosity.
Invigorated Morganbeard Extract
An enhancement toward the Morganbeard Extract for further improving the potency of the consumables. Talk to Nigel and activate the quest “Please, Sir, Can I have some Morbol?” to obtain this curiosity.
After that, reach the hunting board and begin the hunt for Carrot. The monster will be in the Whispering Waters area, for which the players need to travel to Martha’s Rest. However, having the location of Three Reeds for Fast Travel will make the task much easier.
Slaying the vial creature will give you Morbol Tendril, which is required for the quest’s completion. Once the monster is killed, return to Nigel and hand him the Morbol Tendril. The quest will end, rewarding you with the Invigorated Morganbeard Extract.
Orchestrion Roll Curiosities
Regarding unlocking the new songs in Final Fantasy 16, players can mostly obtain them during the main story’s progress. The rest of the songs will be in the Treasures throughout the map. Or, you will have to purchase them from the Merchants. Furthermore, if any Merchants become unavailable due to story progress, their Orchestrion Roll will be transferred to Charon in Hideaway.
These curiosities are just for the fun and extra content side.
