Upon the release of the remake comes new content which is given in a remake to make sure people can revisit their favorite old games with extra content for them to immersive themself in. Developers introduce new content to make games more enjoyable; change hated mechanics, or clear a mistake. Using this strategy, Capcom has also introduced new content in their remake of Resident Evil 4, the all-new Resident Evil 4 Remake Assault Rifle, the CQBR.
Key Highlights
- With a remake comes change and new content, and just like that, the new assault rifle is here and is a must-try weapon. With one of the best fire rates and power in the game, this gun packs a lot of heat and can be useful against many enemies, including boss fights.
- The Resident Evil 4 Remake assault rifle is a perfect gun, and most of all, it’s free to get, but that doesn’t mean it is easy to get; hence this guide will help you get it using a step-by-step guide.
- The base gun stats are very good on their own, but once upgraded completely, it is a force to be reckoned with.
The CQBR is a new edition to the game but is still a familiar weapon in the series. According to my knowledge, I used the CQBR that appeared in the Resident Evil 3 Remake, a perfect weapon regarding fire rate and power if you ask me. And that isn’t changed in the Resident Evil 4 Remake as its assault rifle, the CQBR, is directly inspired by CQBR in the remake of the third game.
According to my experience, this assault rifle packs a punch with that high rate of fire in the game. I was able to take out a horde of enemies, from ganging up on me and up to taking out a fraction of a boss’s health. The only downside I was met with is the ammo consumption, So I recommend not abusing it on small enemies. Resident Evil 4 is a great survival horror game, and like most survival games, resources are a huge part of the game.
The CQBR is a gun that packs a lot of heat but at the cost of enormous ammo consumption, so make the most out of it by saving it for hard enemies, especially for boss fights.
How To Get The Assault Rifle
The merchant provides a huge arsenal but at a cost but one of the most powerful automatic rifles is completely free and I can help you find The Resident Evil 4 Remake assault rifle, the CQBR that is completely free. And Here is how you can find it:
But it isn’t easy to get; I had to complete a series of tasks through two chapters to get the gun for free. But putting in that effort did bear its fruit.
The first step to getting this gun is to make the most when playing with Ashley in chapter 9. When you are in the library playing as Ashley, I need you to unlock the stairs. This is the first step to acquiring the CQBR.
To unlock the stairs, I need you to find a white lantern holder on the bottom part of the map of the library. Find the stand and put the blue lantern on it to open the sliding bookcase contraption. Go into the now-discovered hidden room, and you will find a lever.
Upon cranking the lever I made sure the stairs came down and explored the room above just to confirm things but nothing there was of value so you don’t need to go up there but i recommend that you confirm that the stairs are down.
Now moving on to rescuing Leon from his confinement, where Ashley gets captured in exchange for him. After that, in chapter 10 or even in 9, you need to go and get the cubic device. The cubic device can be found near the armory when exiting the corridor. It will be inside a chest just after you take a right from the armory.
Once I had the cube, I went to the library but now as Leon in chapter 10. Now all the cards should be in place if you follow the instructions I laid out well you won’t have any problem and will be able to get your prize easily. So now just like I did you have to go to the library and go up to the room you unlocked as Ashley.
There, select and put the cube into the contraption on the right when you get up the stairs, and you will need to line it up and enter it when all the key-like patterns match the patterns on the cube.
Upgrades For Assault Rifle
Now the base gun is great on its own, but I recommend maxing it out, which turns this into a handy tool of destruction in the right hands.
And for your ease here are all the stats of the base weapon I had:
- Power: 2.00
- Ammo capacity: 20
- Reload speed: 0.85
- Rate of fire: 2.50
- Precision: 5.0
Stats after I maxed it out:
- Power: 3.40 (x1.5 with exclusive ticket upgrade)
- Ammo capacity: 32
- Reload speed: 1.25
- Rate of fire: 2.50
- Precision: 5.0
The rate of fire and precision for the CQBR will remain the same as there are no upgrades. You can only invest in power, ammo, and reload speed, which alone overpowers the gun.
I recommend that you focus on maxing out the power and reload speed first, as those two matter the most, in my opinion, and will give you the most out of the early stage when you get the gun.
The gun has almost no recoil thanks to its burst action trigger, which isn’t something even I expected out of it. And the reduced recoil makes the gun very easy to control. As for the sight, I used a scope that gave me a real advantage when aiming at weak and specific points from a distance. but you can follow your own build.
Final Thoughts:
From the experience I had, the gun control is very well, and the damage of the maxed-out CQBR even took out a chainsaw Gando in just one mag on professional difficulty, which is a real test of strength. The gun also handled nicely during boss fights and I cannot recommend enough how easy it was when I was taking down Los Dos Elgigante with this gun. It easily stunned the boss and the scope I used made it easy for me to take out the parasites.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake assault rifle CQBR also supports the thermal scope, so I implore that it is a must-have if you want to go up against the Regenerators. Thanks to Capcom their love for this game has made them polish and make a lot of enemies even more challenging than the original hence the Regenerators are new and even harder to deal with.
The Regenerators have a faster movement speed and attack speed, which requires a faster weapon to take out all the parasites inside the Regenerator with the minimum time taken. So with the great fire rate that CQBR provides, I recommend using it against Regenerators compared to the standard sniper rifle.
That’s all I have on the Resident Evil 4 Remake assault rifle; if you have any queries regarding CQBR or if it’s an upgrade or any other gun in the game, do comment and tell me about it. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide which gun to choose for your play, and if you still want some opinions on the matter, do check out Resident Evil 4 Remake Best Weapons.
