Since it was announced that Microsoft would be attempting to purchase Activision Blizzard, there has been large speculation about what that would mean for both companies. This would be one of the most significant acquisitions in the game world, leading many to wonder what it would look like after the fact. Now we’ve learned that Activision titles are set to arrive on the GamePass.
Summary
- Xbox has increased its efforts to complete the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
- In the acquisition process, it was originally revealed that at least some Activision Blizzard games would not be added to the Xbox game pass.
- Now, Jez Cordon has revealed that Activision titles will be added to the Xbox game pass when and if the merger is completed.
One of the reasons that we’re getting this information could be to help get the audience excited about the possibility of Activision Blizzard games appearing on the Game Pass. Another reason could be that both companies are attempting to help sway public opinion as the conclusion draws closer.
The deal has been contested in several countries, and they may be helping the popular opinion could help move legislators to a more agreeable position. Either way, the acquisition seems likely to happen now, and we could see it soon.
Of course, the question then becomes if we will get Activision Blizzard games, which ones will we be looking at?
There are only two games that most people seem certain we won’t see as part of the current deal. The first is Call of Duty Modern Warfare III, which makes sense as it is their latest title. The second game that we are not likely to see is Diablo IV, an extremely popular title since it was released. These two games are some of their biggest money makers, and they won’t let them out for free until some more time passes, at least.
But, of course, that still leaves a massive inventory of games for them to add to the Xbox game pass. This deal does not seem to exclude any previous modern warfare or even general Call of Duty games, which is almost a gaming library.
It would be a big deal. And, of course, there are the other Diablo games, not to mention the huge amount of other titles that Activision Blizzard happens to own in its back catalog.
Our sources indicate (surprising nobody) that despite Activision's statement, you can expect to see a bunch of Activision stuff hit Xbox Game Pass as soon as the deal is finalized.

For anyone wondering why they said that they would not be releasing any games from the past, it seems to have been to remove the idea of posting their recent games. This does make sense to temper expectations, but it will be a joy for many to see some of their favorite titles of the game pass. We will watch for an official list of games and let you know what we find.
That is all that we have on Activision games slated for GamePass.
