Resident Evil games have recently experienced something of a resurgence with the remakes that Capcom has released. With the Resident Evil 4 Remake underway, many people are wondering about the next entry in the series of remakes. For that instance, we have received disappointing but reassuring news from Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi about another potential match, namely a Code Veronica remake.

The Rundown

  • With the Resident Evil 4 Remake under development, we may have received an update on the upcoming game remake from Capcom.
  • The producer says that while there are no plans now, the devs would love to do one.

This original news comes from Twitter, specifically the user @Shinobi602. They posted a snippet from an interview in which Yoshiaki Hirabayashi answered questions about the series. One polling question was whether we could actually see a Code Veronica remake.

This is where the bad news comes because Yoshiaki confirms there are no current plans to create a Code Veronica remake. While Code Veronica was not the most mainstream of all the Resident Evil titles, it has a solid following. So it is somewhat surprising to hear that there are no plans to remake the game for the new console.

But there was also good news, as Yoshiaki confirmed that the developers were utterly willing to work on a Code Veronica remake. Based on what I have seen in other sections of the gaming industry, if there is enough pull and the developers are willing, then it is always possible to see a game come back.

This means that for the time being, we will not be receiving any kind of Code Veronica remake. It is left open so that they can make that a potential entry in the series in the future. But for the time being, we should not expect anything related to this.

So far, the latest entry in the remake series has been announced as nearing the release of the Resident Evil 4 Remake. This remake looks fantastic in all the trailers of promotional material.

The game will follow a similar story to the original Leon Kennedy is sent into a rural country to save the president’s daughter. Along the way, fighting bio-threats and zealots that are bent on killing the girl. This shares continuity with the previous Resident Evil remake games and will continue their story.

It is possible that we could see more Resident Evil remakes in the future. The remakes have put the game franchise back on the map and revived its popularity. As long as Resident Evil 4 and other entries continue to do the same thing, there’s no reason that they won’t make more.

It is not like we will only get remakes, though, as some newer entries like Biohazard and Resident Evil Village have also been top-rated. The series will follow whatever the current favorite path is for the audience.
