It has been an exciting year for Mortal Kombat fans with the accidental leak of the upcoming new entry. Now we not only know that we are getting a new game, it is more than we thought. It turns out that this new title will be a reboot, and Mortal Kombat reboot details have leaked.
Summary
- It has recently been revealed that the new Mortal Kombat game will not be a sequel but instead a new reboot of the series.
- This game will be following the changes made to the series post-MK11.
- The game already has planned DLC content that will introduce new and varied characters to the game as it goes.
Mortal Kombat has been getting a lot of news this year, and now we have just gotten a lot more with a recent Twitter post from Jez Corden. Among several important updates he revealed about the game, the fact that it is a reboot is definitely at the top. This has been implied to mean that the game will not be directly following the events of MK11.
Details on Mortal Kombat 1, corroborating @billbil_kun.
– It is a reboot, called Mortal Kombat 1.
– September 2023 launch window so I've heard.
– Character pass includes Peacemaker, and more. https://t.co/xc8xOQDrzu #MortalKombat1 #MortalKombat #Xbox— Jez 💀 (@JezCorden) May 11, 2023
It will follow this game but is in a new continuity following MK11. Following this, the new entry will be in a new universe with only a small tie to the previous entries. Because of this, we can expect all new setups for this game involving characters new and old.
Finding out that this was a reboot was not the only thing we uncovered from Jez Corden’s tweet. We also looked at the potential release for this new game, and it is good for those looking forward to playing this soon. The game should be released by the end of 2023, which is interesting, given that the game has had no ads or teasers up to this point.
It is also highly possible that the devs are keeping this game under wraps and won’t start promoting it until it is close to release. We are seeing this campaign style become more common, so it makes sense that MK1 will try and take advantage of it. Hopefully, we will start seeing some ads by mid-summer to understand better what this will look like.
The last thing we learned about this game is that additional characters are planned as DLC. The game will feature a game pass that will give paying players access to new characters for the game. The one who Jez says will be in the game is Peace Maker from the DC Universe.
So far, this is the only character that has hinted at being in the game, but there is going to be more, and if previous games are any indication, there are many options.
This is all that we have on Mortal Kombat reboot details have leaked, but as we get closer to its release, we will see more.
