Obsidian founder Feargus Urquhart says he wants to make another Fallout game. For those who are uninitiated, Obsidian Entertainment made Fallout New Vegas in 2010. The game peaked in its writing and is still considered one of Bethesda’s best games even after a decade. And in a recent interview, Feargus says he would be delighted to make another Fallout game.

Story Highlights

  • Obsidian’s founder is enthusiastic about the Fallout franchise and would love to make another entry in the series.
  • He explains why he stayed at Interplay for over a year because he loved the game.
  • Fergus confirms that the game would be heavily tied with what Bethesda is doing with the series if he gets to make the game.

In the 25th anniversary celebrations of Fallout, Fergus, without going much into any details, says that Obsidian Entertainment would love to return to the series if the opportunity arrives.

He says in his interview responding to the question of whether they’ll do another fallout:

Of course, if we ever got the opportunity to make another Fallout game, we’d make it. There’s not even a question of whether or not we would do it, it’s just ‘Will the opportunity arise?

He also says that he stayed at Interplay for over a year because he loves Fallout and wanted to work more on Fallout. He tells some interesting things about the development of Fallout 3. According to him, the development of Fallout 3 went from the NDL engine to Netimerse to Gamebryo as the final engine to develop Fallout 3.

Although Fallout New Vegas was a buggy mess at launch, what people didn’t understand is that the game was made over a year. But still, the game had over 9000 quests. The game was later stabilized and playable with unofficial patches and mods by the community.

The reason most people miss out on the opportunity to have a play of their time in a post-apocalyptic Nevada, Vegas, with one of the best writings in games, is because of the bugs and glitches.

Obsidian recently released Grounded this year and The Outer Worlds in 2019. They are still working on a sequel for Outer Worlds, Avowed, and a medieval tapestry-themed RPG adventure that comes out next month. Furgus says after these games, he will definitely get the studio to focus on Fallout.

Fans now have high hopes for a sequel to New Vegas with these latest statements. Since Microsoft owns Obsidian, the game’s development will inevitably have good funding and a really good engine to work with.
