This new glitch was originally Reported by Tez2 on Twitter, who reported on it and its consequences. The basic aspect is that the devs for GTA Online use a special code that allows them to adjust the prices of items in-game.
The problem is that this system is now broken, and the only way these things can take effect is through updates. As you might imagine, this is a problem cause several items were already affected by this.
For now, this mostly seems to have been limited to cars, but considering that the same system is used for all items in the game, there could be others. The cars that have been affected have seen massive hikes in their prices, making them much harder to attain for the average player.
This hike sometimes leaves these vehicles in the range of millions of dollars. That is a lot of time and grinding for these players to achieve that.
Even more confusing is that the glitch affects the back end because their system needs confirmation to affect the team. This means that even though an item looks like it could be one price if it is interfered with by using the opt-out of sale function. So to say this is complicated would be an understatement.
Based on the response, adjusting the prices would be the most straightforward course of action. This is where the second half of the glitch comes into play; they can’t. The only way the devs and programmers can alter anything in the game is with a patch.
They’re currently no patches scheduled to come out any time soon. This is going to leave these items in a lurch.
So the next question you will probably ask is if the devs can fix the whole thing. The answer is yes, but it is going to take some time. They will have to patch everything and then release an update so that it takes effect in a game.
