Project U is one of the most mysterious games in development at Ubisoft, and we got our first look at it in a leak. This leak comes from one of the beta testers they just started using, which now seems to be leaked on the internet. The Project U leak has given us a lot to unpack, so let’s go ahead and dive into the information.

Key Highlights

  • The leak gives our first look at the game and the dev team.
  • We now know some of the system requirements, thanks to the leaker.
  • The leaker says that more will come after they have played the game.

The leaker gave us a bit of information to digest on the game ranging from in-game images to instructions from the developer. This information comes from a famous leaker on Twitter @just4leaks2.

The first of these is the note from the developers that this game is still in early development. As a matter of fact, the game is so early in its development that they do not even know what format the game will be released in.

Whether it will be a game you pay for once, or will it be free to play? This choice is a big part of game development, and the fact they don’t know exactly depicts the early state of the game

Despite being this early, it is interesting to note that they have quite a few assets already completed. This completed set of assets is why they are holding the beta so the players will have something to play with. In the leaked video, we can also see that they are still working on some assets, so the game is far from finished.

We have also learned that the devs take the feedback very seriously for this entry. This means the beta testing is still underway.

We do not know the minimum and maximum system requirements for Project U, but the leaker was kind enough to share their system requirements with us. So, for the time being, we will have to assume that these are the default requirements until we get an official announcement.

The first was that they were using the Windows 10 Operating System. This OS choice isn’t surprising, as most gamers have to run Windows 10 as the bare minimum for modern gaming. So I don’t think this will be a problem for most gamers to use when the game comes out.

Next came the processors, and it has two choices available. You will need an Intel Core I7-6700k or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600. Again, these seem reasonable processors to request from gamers to have in their rigs.

Next, you will need either the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (8 GB VRAM) or the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 (8 GB VRAM). So it seems that this game will be graphics demanding, so you definitely need a decent GPU to play the game.
In addition, any system will need 16GB of dual-channel memory to play the game.

Project U Level

There is so little information about this project, but the leak provider has said they will share more after they play the game. This in-depth information could be good because we will get actual in-game footage and information.

The footage is good enough right now because we might get a good look at some of the character designs and level details this early. From the information side, it would be nice to know what kinds of characters we will be playing as and what the story could be.

Now, these will only be leaks, and we won’t know anything official for a while yet because the game is pretty early in development. So these leaks will be most appreciated in giving us a good look at what is to come with Project U. So, let’s hope that the tests go well and we will see this information sooner rather than later.

At this point, we only have speculation as to what the plot and setting of the game will be, but we do have some confirmed tidbits that may be useful. For one thing, it has been confirmed that this will be a co-op game.

The gameplay’s primary focus is its co-op functionality. In the leak, one of the devs said this would be easier said than done, which leads me to believe that there will be extra mechanics involved.

Another thing that we are aware of is that this is going to be primarily a PvE game. So you won’t be fighting other players so much as fighting a vast and dangerous enemy.

In some other leaks, it has been stated that robots will be the primary enemy. While that is not confirmed, this has an extreme horde mode or Left 4 Dead vibe.

The game is also stated to be an fps game, judging from the art. It appears to be leaning toward something like Apex Legends or Overwatch. This artistic style is good because it aims for a more fantastical element than a gritty or realistic one. All in all, this appears to be a bit different for all the genres it is trying to be, so it will be interesting to see what it looks like.

That is about it for the Project U leak, and we will keep you informed if we learn anything further.
