Rockstar Games has been in the news recently, but another apparent leak will have them there. Meanwhile, the latest news reveals that a new Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Switch as a cloud port. It is getting the whole Red Dead Redemption fanbase into a frenzy. This is for a few different reasons and the impact it could have on the fan base and the timeline of future projects.
Summary
- A leak from the Brazilian Government has revealed the RDR2 has been rated for the Nintendo Switch.
- A few journalists have picked up this leak, and the early reaction from the Rockstar fan base has been interesting.
- This also leaves some questions about how this will affect future Rockstar projects.
It has been rumored that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be coming to Switch for quite some time, but nothing concrete was on the subject. Now, a leak from the Brazilian website has given us confirmation that this is happening.

This leak originally came from ‘Necro’ Felippe on X(formerly known as Twitter), who said it looked hopeful because the Brazilian government had given it a rating. This was then picked up by Infinitybesk, who added further credence to the leak by referencing some early 2021 posts from Stephen Totilo. This helps show that this idea has been developing for a while.
Infinitybesk also stated that this port would be a cloud version of the game. This makes a lot of sense because the switch doesn’t have the hardware to run the base game. Rather than downgrade it, they will make it playable through an internet connection. Mortal Kombat 1 has already been criticized for its downgrades on the Switch platform, and I suspect that Rockstar would like to avoid that.
On a serious note Red Dead Redemption 2 being rated on Nintendo Switch is definitely a cloud version it's literally impossible for this game to run on the System also Rockstar already once did an RDR2 cloud version on Stadia I'm guessing this is the same thing

As an exciting effect of this, it seems to confirm where Rockstar’s priorities are as a company inadvertently. They are not dedicating much staff or resources to their porting or remaster projects. That would indicate that those resources are being diverted elsewhere and used for something.
We know the studio is still polishing GTA 6, but rumors about another project have existed. Whether this is in the exploration phase or still just planning, it will be interesting to see what emerges.
The audience’s reaction to this news has been interesting. Many were astounded that this game could come to Switch when it still hasn’t been ported to the current generation of consoles.
Some had fun figuring out what this game would look like on the switch, given how much roasting MK1 has been getting recently. And others are just wondering why most recent announcements haven’t been for new games but instead for remakes and ports.
Only time will tell how well this new port for RDR2 will be received when it is released. Meanwhile, we will watch for more leaks about Rockstar games. Hopefully, this will include a new title at some point in the future.
That is all we have on a new RDR 2 cloud port coming to Switch.
