The Legacy of Kain returning soon in the new generation after decades since its last game. According to developers, the gothic Vampire fantasy game will return as requested by its grown community throughout the years. They have decided to let the franchise have another chance at revival as per popularity demand.
Summary
- The Legacy of Kain returning is single-handed because of popular demands by its old and new participants of its cult following.
- According to the developers, the results of the survey made by Crystal Dynamics regarding the fate of the franchise were very unexpected.
- The reboot of 2016 might also get revived again, as the game was already way far into development.
- The results were announced in the annual Q2 report of the Parent’s companies earnings call, and we will see some news about the game by next year.
Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the development of Legacy of Kain, had put up a survey to let the fans decide the franchise’s fate. Upon seeing the results, the developers were astonished. The Survey was put up in October, and on Thursday, the developers announced the results claiming that they had expected the survey to only get at most four figures or a few five figures total votes for its revival.
The Survey has confirmed to get a total of 73,000 responses from the fans and has left the developers blown away. According to developers, they heard the fans and will give the franchise another chance.
The Legacy Of Kain returning isn’t something people are unfamiliar with, as the game also had a reboot announced back in 2016. Supposedly, it was canceled later because of issues like finances, mismanagement, and an uninterested audience. Moreover, the reboot was way lower than the fan anticipations made by the previous games.
The game under discussion was named Legacy of Kain Dead Suns, which Square Enix would publish. It was supposedly canceled because of issues raised by some cooperation refusals made by the higher-ups.
It’s unclear if it is going to be a remaster or remake. The information shared by the developers about the survey being a huge traffic bringer was only talked about during the Crystal Dynamics and Phil Rogers, the CEO of Eidos’s Group call about earnings.
In the past, we’ve found that surveys typically get between 1,000 and 3,000 responses, but when we asked folk about Legacy of Kain, we received over 100,000 responses. 73,000 gamers completed it entirely, and if you are one of them, we thank you very much, and we appreciate it was quite an effort given the survey was pretty extensive.
We saw the news of our survey shared across social and press platforms and we really felt this was a great way to reignite this passionate fan community with this legendary PC and console game series. Rest assured, we hear you loudly and clearly, and we will continue to update you on the what-if possibilities ahead for Legacy of Kain in the future.

The Franchise goes way back, with its first game in 1996 being Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. The latest one would be Nosgoth, a free-to-play multiplayer spin-off of the franchise. The game had a huge following, but the franchise’s next entry was canceled. Solely the reason was bad management, fans getting uninterested in the game, and financial issues.
Throughout the years, the cult following still lived on, and as time passed, people who loved playing classical games spawned into the cult, making it a vast community requesting its revival. Indeed this era is the era of remakes and reboots, with some classic masterpieces coming to deliver its nostalgic embrace.
This is the extent of the information regarding the fate of the Legacy of Kain returning. Tell us your opinions on the matter and your expectations for the new game from Crystal Dynamics. We would love to hear it in the comments.
