Resident Evil 4 Remake, following in the footsteps of the previous Remakes in the franchise, built this game from the ground up. This allows the developers to make a game more fitting for modern-day gamers, bringing many gameplay improvements. Therefore, charms are created exclusively for the RE4 Remake, and this guide will help list them for comparison and understanding.

Key Takeaways

  • There are currently 32 charms in the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
  • These charms rank from Common Charms to Rare, sometimes even Legendary Charms. Some charms in the list are exclusive to the Deluxe Edition of the RE4 Remake.
  • Moreover, the charms are responsible for providing passive bonuses to the players. These bonuses can range from providing healing bonuses to sometimes providing a player with crafting bonuses.
  • You can acquire these charms by trading them for tokens. These tokens can be obtained by completing missions provided by the Merchant inside the shooting range. You can also acquire gold tokens by trading spinels with the Merchant.
  • These tokens can be either gold or silver tokens. You can trade three of these tokens for a charm, and the charm’s rarity can depend on the tokens used.
  • You can attach three charms to your case at the typewriter. Extra charms can also be sold to the Merchant, and their price will depend on their rarity.
  • Most common charms provide crafting bonuses, such as more ammo per craft. Meanwhile, Epic Charms provide discounts from the Merchant, and the Legendary Charms can even provide bonuses in the combat stats.
  • As a result, you can sometimes get 20 percent craft frequency on various ammo, or you can get more healing from a single green herb.
  • However, acquiring all these charms in a single game playthrough is impossible. Therefore, the game expects you to at least play the game in its entirety multiple times to get most of the charms.

In Resident Evil 4 Remake, there are currently 32 charms in the game. These charms can be acquired in the game and provide bonuses for the player in the game. As a result, some of these charms can increase the rate of ammo drops or how effectively health regenerates and sometimes even increases the run speed of Leon. Players can cycle between these charms and attach three charms to their inventory case.

How To Acquire Charms In RE 4 Remake

These 32 charms range from common charms that are easy to acquire and more frequently available to Legendary charms that will drop at an incredibly rare rate. Moreover, two charms are only available if you get the game’s Deluxe Edition. Acquiring these charms in the game is a fun mini-game where you get drops that can be used to obtain charms.

Furthermore, these charms can be divided into four classes depending on their bonuses. These four classes are as follows:

  • Crafting Bonus Charms: These charms provide bonuses on items you craft, such as ammo.
  • Combat Charms: These charms improve the combat stats of Leon Kennedy in the game.
  • Merchant Discount Charms: These charms help you avail discounts at the Merchant store and increase your items’ resale value.
  • Healing Bonus Charms: These charms improve your health regeneration after consuming several items.

Acquiring Charms is very straightforward in the game. Like most items in the game, these charms can be acquired through the Merchant in the game. However, the Merchant will not directly trade you charms; you must play a mini-game inside the shooting range or gallery to get your rewards.

Shooting Range In RE4 Remake

Shooting Range – Image Captured by: Gamesual

The Merchant allows the player to visit a shooting range after Chapter 3 of the game. There are a total of 12 shooting ranges in the game. This is also the same time the Merchant will tease the availability of the Rocket Launcher in the game.

Furthermore, you will see an elevator next to the Merchant store that will take you down to the shooting range. Here you will be given three different missions to earn tokens.

The game is very simple; you aim to shoot as many pirate targets as possible while avoiding the sailors. Moreover, you will be given different guns to try out the challenge. However, depending on your score in the game, you will be awarded tokens.

The game mainly has two types of tokens: gold and silver. These are your main form of currency to acquire charms.

At the entrance of the shooting range, you will see a machine dispensing charms. You can insert three tokens at a time, and the machine will drop a charm, sort of like a gumball machine. Therefore, you can add any combination of three tokens to this machine, and the machine will drop a charm.

The possible combination of Tokens:

  • 3 Gold Tokens
  • 3 Silver Tokens
  • 2 Gold and 1 Silver Token
  • 2 Silver and 1 Gold Token

Moreover, these charms’ rarity can depend on the type of tokens you have added. As a result, more Gold Tokens will result in charms with higher rarity. However, do not be disheartened, as some initial charms in the game will be common.

Although, the more you progress in the game, the charms will start getting better. You can also start trading Gold Tokens from the Merchant for spinels around Chapter 13 of the game.

It is important to remember that you can only attach three charms at a time. This means you can select only three passive bonuses you can use throughout the gameplay. However, this completely depends on your playstyle, and you can equip any three you want. So if you need more ammo, attach the charms that drop more ammo, or if you want more melee damage, you can attack that charm too.

These charms can be attached to your case at the typewriter. So you can carefully select the three charms you need and attach them to your case. You can also save your game here just in case you do not like the combination of charms equipped so you can change it back. Moreover, you can sell the extra charms to the Merchant, and the rare a charm, the more money it will earn you.

Common Charms

The Common Charms are some of the easiest to acquire in the game. Their abilities are good, not necessarily great, and they provide really helpful bonuses. However, it does not mean that common charms are useless, they are just much more frequent, and their bonuses focus on ammo drops

This is a list of the 16 Common Charms available in RE4 Remake:

Leader Zealot

Desired Effect: +10% Health Recovery for Green Herbs

This charm is a tribute to the Red Clock Zealot in the game that turns common enemies into Plaga types. Even though this is a common charm, it is a very powerful healing bonus charm. In a game where healing items are rare, this charm allows a single Green Herb to heal you 10 percent more. Therefore, if you have only a single Green Herb and need healing, this charm will increase the effects.

Don Jose

Desired Effect: +15% Handgun Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

This charm is a reference to the axe-wielding infected villager, Don Jose. The charm is a Crafting Bonus Charm, allowing you to craft more Handgun Ammo. Therefore, this is great when you are low on resources and ammo. As a result, the charm will yield you more ammo for your handy pistol while using the same amount of resources.

Soldier With The Hammer

Desired Effect: +20% Handgun Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

Soldier With The Hammer, as the name suggests, is a tribute to, you guessed it, Soldier With The Hammer. Like the previously mentioned Don Jose charm in the list, this charm is also one of the Crafting Bonus Charms in RE4 Remake. However, now the percentage of handgun ammo you can craft is 20 percent, which is 5 percent more than the Don Jose charm.

Don Esteban

Desired Effect: +15% Shotgun Shells Craft Bonus Frequency

The Don Esteban Charm pays homage to the sickle-wielding villager, Esteban. This charm is another one of the Crafting Bonus Charms. Even though the charm is of a common type, the bonus it gives is great. The charm allows players to craft 15 percent more Shotgun Shells using the same resources. As a result, you will have more Shotgun Ammo in your inventory.

Zealot With The Shield

Desired Effect: +20% Shotgun Shells Craft Bonus Frequency

This Charm pays tribute to the religious enemies carrying around wooden shields. However, the bonus reward is very good for this Crafting Bonus Charm. The charm has very similar effects to the Don Esteban Charm, although now you can craft 20 percent more shotgun shells per craft. This is 5 percent more than Don Esteban’s charm and is great if your go-to gun is the powerful shotgun.

Don Diego

Desired Effect: +15% Rifle Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

Don Diego is another infected villager you encounter early on in the game. Moreover, this charm is another one of the Crafting Bonus Charms, but this time, you get bonus Rifle ammo. The Charm allows you to craft 15 percent more Rifle ammo every time you craft. This allows you to save resources as now you can craft more ammo for your rifle.

Dr. Salvador

Desired Effect: +20% Rifle Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

This Charm references everyone’s favorite chainsaw-wielding villager, Dr. Salvador. The charm will increase the amount of Rifle Ammo you can craft by 20 percent. This makes it another of the Crafting Bonus Charms, which yields 5 percent more ammo than the Don Diego Charm. So if you are going through the Rifle ammo fairly quickly, this charm is a great one to always have with you.

Don Miguel

Desired Effect: +15% Submachine Gun Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

Like most of the common charms in the list, the Don Miguel Charm is a Crafting Bonus Charm RE 4 Remake. However, you get a bonus of 15 percent more Sub-Machine ammo this time. This is a great charm to be carrying around, as the submachine ammo is some of the quickest-draining ammo.

This makes it another Crafting Bonus Charm and a great one to have with you if you rely more on your submachine gun.

Soldier With The Stun Rod

Desired Effect: +15% Bolt Craft Bonus Frequency

The Soldier with the Stun Rod charm is another Crafting Bonus Charm of the common type. The charm allows you to craft additional 15 percent ammo for your bolt thrower. Moreover, a bolt thrower allows you to retrieve most of its bolts, so this charm makes it even more useful. This will allow you to have practically infinite ammo for your bolt thrower.

Zealot With The Bowgun

Desired Effect: +20% Bolt Craft Bonus Frequency

This charm references the extremely irritating crossbow-carrying enemies you encounter in the castle. However, the charm is very useful if you keep losing your bolts or using them with attachable mines. As a result, this charm allows you to craft 20 percent more bolts which is 5 percent more than the Solider with the Stun Rod charm.

As a result, you can fire explosive projectiles. This charm allows you to craft 30 percent more attachable mines, so you are never out of mines in your inventory.

Maria

Desired Effect: +15% Magnum Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

The Maria Charm is another Crafting Bonus Charm in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Moreover, the charm allows you to craft 15 percent more Magnum Ammo. This type of ammo is the rarest and one of the most powerful in the game. Therefore, this makes the charm very useful when the ammo is hard to come by.

Bella Sisters

Desired Effect: +20% Magnum Ammo Craft Bonus Frequency

The Bella Sisters are the chainsaw-wielding twins you encounter mid-way through the game. Like the previous one on the list, the Charm allows you to craft more Magnum ammo. However, this time you can craft 20 percent more. As the magnum ammo is some of the most powerful in the game, it makes this charm worth having on you.

This Charm is one of the Healing Bonus Charms in the game, making it one of the most essential. Moreover, as the healing items are hard to come by, it is very effective when you only have vipers in your inventory.

Don Pedro

Desired Effect: +40% Health Recovery for Vipers

Like the Isabel Charm, the Don Pedro Charm lets you get the most out of the vipers. Even though you can still get health regeneration from the vipers, the health you regenerate is very low. So having this charm on your case makes every viper you consume 40 percent more effective.

Rare Charms

The Rare Charms are more difficult to acquire than the Common Charms. Moreover, the Common Charms focused more on the Crafting Bonus. Meanwhile, the Rare Charms focus more on discounts from the Merchant and health regeneration.

Epic Charms

There are only four Epic Charms in the game, and these charms are also very rare. Acquiring one of these charms means you are lucky to have obtained them. Moreover, these charms range from increasing your melee attack to regaining health.

This is a list of the 4 Epic Charms available in RE4 Remake:

So you would not need to combine multiple herbs to have the same effect and could use one green herb to get most of your health back.

Merchant

Desired Effect: 5% Off All Weapon Upgrades

The Merchant Charm is based on everyone’s favorite Merchant. This charm allows you to avail 5 percent discount on all the weapon upgrades, which makes it a Merchant Discount Charm. Although this may seem like not much, this charm will help you save a lot of money in a game where weapon upgrades are expensive and frequent.

Rhinoceros Beetle

Desired Effect: +100% Health Recovery Item Resale Value

The Rhinoceros Beetle Charm may not seem that important when trying to stack up on health items. However, if you ever get a surplus on health items, you can sell them to the Merchant and get a hundred percent resale value. This can prove very important when you need money and have a few health items.

Legendary Charms

The Legendary Charms are some of the rarest charms in the game. It is incredibly rare to get a legendary charm in your first play-through of the game. Moreover, there are only two charms, making your chances of getting one even lower. However, acquiring one in the game is still possible, and they give some of the most incredible bonuses.

The following is a list of the 2 Legendary Charms available in RE4 Remake:

Cute Bear

Desired Effect: -1 Gunpowder used when Crafting

The Cute Bear Charm is one of the most effective charms. In Resident Evil 4 Remake, you are constantly looking for resources and gunpowder to craft ammo, and this charm allows you to use one less gunpowder. Deluxe Edition Charms

The Deluxe Edition Charms are two additional charms unavailable to every player who gets Resident Evil 4 Remake. These charms are only available for those who got the game’s Deluxe Edition when they preordered. Conclusion

Charms in Resident Evil 4 Remake is a newly introduced gaming mechanic that adds further diversity to the game. These charms provide passive bonuses that shape the gameplay styles. Therefore, if you are carrying around a Striker Charm, you would not worry much about dodging or evading enemies because you would be quicker.

Moreover, acquiring most of these charms from the list can be very exciting in RE4 Remake. Resident Evil 4 Remake turns this into a fun side game where you enter a shooting gallery and aim for a high score to acquire tokens. Then these tokens can be inserted into a machine, and depending on your luck, you will get a charm. So it can sometimes depend entirely on your luck on what type of charm you will get.

These charms also encourage players to have multiple playthroughs, so you can get charms you did not get on your first playthrough. This allows players to experiment with their playing styles and find exciting ways to play the game. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a game that requires multiple playthroughs so you can collect newer charms and have a completely new experience.
