One of the newer mechanics in the new The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduced is the fusion mechanic. It is a new mechanic in the game that gives more creative freedom to the players by allowing them to fuse any two objects.
This mechanic is mainly used for fusing random things with arrows, swords, and shields. Fusion is one of the most exciting mechanics that I have come across. Learn my best picks for fusions in the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Key Takeaways
- Shock Fruit fusion allows the players to have shocking or electrocuting tendencies in their arrows, which is a massive help as it increases the damage to the enemies.
- The Fire Fruit fusion will create fire arrows. The tip of the arrows will be lit up. These arrows are a huge help if the players want to deal extra damage while conserving ammo.
- Chuchu Jelly are the low-level enemies located in the game’s Hyrule region. It is the best Fusion possible as they are not rare, and players can find them easily.
- Gibdos are the enemies located in the game in the Gerudo Desert. Gibdos are hard and tough to beat, but the time and effort are all worth it. Because they drop their guts and bones, the players can use these guts and bones to fuse them with their weapons.
- Puffshrooms can produce smoke by making a cloud of spores of some kind. The players can use these mushrooms and fuse them with their arrows to make smoke arrows.
Bomb Fruit Fusion
Bomb Fruits are among the most iconic items in The Legend of Zelda games, as they have been in the past installments. These, as the name suggests, are bombs.
Players can throw them, and they will explode, but with the addition of fusion mechanics, it is better to use them with arrows. Fusing your arrows with the Bomb fruit can turn them into a bomb.
I was instantly delighted that I could also use my bow and arrow as basically a Grenade Launcher.
Shock Fruit Fusion
Shock Fruit fusion allows the players to have shocking or electrocuting tendencies, which is a massive help as it increases the damage to the enemies.
Fire Fruit Fusion
The Fire Fruit fusion will create fire arrows. These arrows were a huge help whenever I wanted to eliminate more enemies while not using much ammo.
Chuchu Jelly Fusion
Chuchu Jelly is dropped from the low-level enemy Chuchu in the game’s Hyrule region. It is the best Fusion possible as they are not rare, and players can find them easily.
The white variant makes ice arrows, the red variant creates fire arrows, and the yellow variant creates shock arrows.
Gibdo Fusion
Gibdos are the enemies located in the game in the Gerudo Desert. These are hard and tough to beat, but the time and effort are all worth it. Because they drop their guts and bones, the players can use these guts and bones to fuse them with their weapons, which significantly increases their damage.
But their biggest con is that they also easily break your weapons. I think the best way to utilize them is by fusing them with arrows.
Puffshrooms Fusions
Under the Depths, players can find a type of mushroom called the Puffshrooms. These mushrooms can produce smoke by making a cloud of spores.
You can use these mushrooms and fuse them with their arrows to make smoke arrows. So, I had a smoke grenade whenever I wanted to split from a fight. These smoke arrows can be used to create smoke, which can be helpful in fights or if you want to heal or run from a fight.
Aerocuda Eyeball Fusion
Aerocuda Eyeballs are very useful because they chase or home the target and deal damage. It makes sense to use them by fusing them with the arrows.
This Fusion will create what you can call the Aerocuda Eyeball Arrows or Homing Arrows. After being shot, the arrows chase the enemy target and hit them, dealing a lot of damage.
This can be handy against fast or agile enemies as they are harder to aim than shoot at. This was one of my favorite arrows. I mean, having homing missiles in your backpack is always good.
Canon Fusion
Best Sheild Fusion in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Canons are the Zonai devices that fire in the direction where the player is pointing. These canons utilize Zonai capsules as ammunition, which can be found around the in-game world in Treasure Chests and Zonai Dispensers, or they can also be found just lying around randomly.
These canons can make a lethal upgrade when fused with the shields. The canon fused shield can then be used in battles and boss fights.
I should warn you that your shield won’t last long with this much punishment. Because, of course, it would be too overpowered if you get to have the fused shield for the whole game.
Rocket Fusion
This Fusion is most helpful if the players want to increase their movement speed and reach their desired location in a shorter time period.
But it only helps the players once. Once you use it, it is gone, and you have to find another rocket and fuse it with the shield again. I always found this Fusion incredibly helpful whenever I wanted to climb towers.
Octo Balloon Fusion
Octo Balloon, like a rocket, is another item that, when fused with the shield, can help players move from one place to another. Honestly, it is easier to say this is a budget version of the Rocket Fusion.
Puffshrooms Fusion
As mentioned, these produce smoke or a cloudy wall that can hinder the enemies’ vision. This can help the players run from the battle or restrategize.
So, if the players fuse the Puffshrooms with the shield, it makes a Puffshroom shield. When the enemies hit the shield, the Puffshroom explodes, creating a smoke cloud that blinds the enemies.
I recommend always keeping one on you in case you want to disappear.
Time Bomb Fusion
As the name implies, they explode after some time set by players. Due to this, if the players fuse the Time Bomb with their shield, they have a Time Bomb Shield.
When an enemy hits the shield fused with the Time Bomb, a timer starts in the form of blinks. Then, after a few blinks, the bomb explodes, either dealing much damage to the enemies or ultimately killing them.
Beam Emitter Fusion
Players can fuse the Beam Emitter with the shield they have to make Beam Emitter Shield. This is an excellent but also weird Fusion because the way it handles it shows that it is not meant to be used like that.
Still, it is handy to have this Fusion because whenever the player uses the shield or aims at the enemies with the shield, it damages the enemies with the beam. So again, I wouldn’t call it an ideal fusion, but a fusion that can work if done.
Cart Fusion
Carts are objects you can already use to make vehicles and many other mechanics. But if the players don’t know, they should note that they can also fuse carts with their shields and make a Shield Cart or a Shield Skateboard.
This is an instrumental fusion when it comes to movement. Like the Octo Balloon and Rockets, this can also help players move easily from one place on the map to another.
How To Fuse In Tears Of Kingdom
Players are introduced to Fusion during their visit to In-Isa Shrine, one of the four shrines you visit on the Great Sky Island.
Here, the game explains and tells the players how to use the fusion ability. A description opens: “Attach something to an equipped weapon or shield to enhance it.”
Then, the game asks players to press buttons to use the ability. Players are asked to hold the L bumper/trigger to move the items. If you can fuse any nearby item, it will be highlighted in blue.
After that, press Y to fuse the item with the weapon or ZL to fuse with a shield.
My Pick For Best Fusion
I would consider the Bomb Fruit Arrow as one of the Best Fusions.
I think no game has done the Fusion mechanic better than Tears of the Kingdom. I could not believe how much freedom it gives. Even still, I do consider the Bomb Fruit and Arrow to be one of the single best fusions in the game.
It may not be extravagant, but it is incredibly effective and easy to make.
You can make a grenade launcher that would obliterate enemies in a few simple steps. So, if you want to cause the most carnage, this may be one of the best fusions. However, I recommend players try different things independently and create fusions that best fit their playstyle.
